Performance Analysis

The single exhaust fan is only really of benefit to the CPU, and the P300 keeps our test one at a delta T of 55°C. This is a distinctly mid-table result and slightly better than the Thermaltake Core G21 TG (likely due to a faster spinning exhaust fan). It's also a better result than the more insulated Eclipse P400S achieved.

Sadly, the GPU is left to fend for itself thanks to a solid front panel and no intake fan. The resultant delta T of 58°C puts it right at the bottom of the charts, below even the P400S on minimum speed (this case at least has a single front intake albeit still with a solid front panel). We run our GPU at a fixed fan speed, but the result for you will be either louder than usual component noise as the GPU's automatic fan control ramps up to compensate and/or lowered performance as the boost speed decreases. A decent GPU cooler is highly recommended with this case, and one or two simple front fans wouldn't go amiss either.

Conclusion

£55 doesn't buy you what it used to in this country any more, so that Phanteks has delivered so solid a case for this price is to be commended. The combination of tempered glass, RGB lighting (limited but easily expandable), and clean looks achieved via a PSU shroud and an effective cable management solution is a strong one sure to please many of you shopping on a budget. The poor GPU cooling is the main drawback, but most mid-range GPUs will be fine and even high-end cards with good coolers shouldn't struggle too much.

Competition comes from the likes of the Thermaltake Core G21, which amazingly can still be had for under £50 right now. It offers more tempered glass, although many may prefer the steel right side panel on this case, since it's better at hiding cables, as well as slightly improved radiator and drive support, but it has no RGB lighting and lower build quality. Its usual retail price is also £60. Ultimately, both are good options for the money, so the choice will come down to which you prefer the look of and which features are most important to you
